UK Study Reveals Brain Changes from Porn
Martin Daubney hosted a documentary in late September on British national television etitled, “Porn on the Brain”. It’s groundbreaking and explores the nature and impact of today’s pornography. The program includes a section on Dr. Valerie Voon’s MRI brain scan research that is revealing significant differences between the reactions of compulsive porn user’s brains as compared to controls (See photo first published in the Independent 9-22-13).
Her research appears to validate the addictive nature and potential of today’s porn and provide some explanation for how and why it can cause serious mental, sexual and relationship problems. The program also takes a personal, albeit disturbing, look into the life of a young man with a serious porn problem, and explores possible societal solutions that may include early and continuing sex education. NOTE: contains sexually explicit adult content, as well as graphic and blurred images of porn.
Salon.com Article Praises “The Porn Trap”
In a groundbreaking Salon.com article entitled, “My Sexuality After Porn,” (10-29-13) journalist Isaac Abel reveals how he is working to undo early conditioning and reclaim his sexuality as healthy, sensual, and intimate. Insightful, honest, and at times graphically descriptive, he discusses various healing strategies he and his partner used, including the “Hand on Heart Anchoring” exercise from our book “The Porn Trap.” Speaking about the exercise, he says, “We’d liked it. Our bodies said that too.”
[Caution: The article does contain a short graphic description of a sexually aggressive fantasy roleplay which might be triggering to some readers]

Wendy Maltz continues to answer tough questions about sexual healing in Part 2of an article published in the Pandora’s Project June 2013 newsletter. The questions cover topics such as self-worth, disclosing to a partner for the first time, dating, and dealing with an impatient partner. Specific ideas are shared that can be found in Wendy’s book, The Sexual Healing Journey.

Newsweek Daily Beast Article mentions “The Porn Trap”
Wendy was recently interviewed by Winston Ross, a writer for Newsweek/Daily Beast for an article on a Baptist pastor recommending men give up porn for good. The Pastor, Jay Dennis of 1 Million Men Porn Free, believes 80% of Christian men are struggling with viewing porn and that porn problems are being avoided partly because many pastors struggle with it, too. Ross discusses why internet porn is so compelling and mentions The Porn Trap as a recovery book.
