The Body article on Sexual Healing Tools

Writer Hannah Harris Green explores old and new sexual healing techniques in her article, “These Women Help Others Heal From Trauma and Enjoy Sex” (The Body: The HIV/AIDS Resource, Oct. 1, 2019). The article interviews Wendy Maltz and describes several basic Relearning Touch techniques from The Sexual Healing Journey. It also features a Netherlands-based engineer’s self-discovery kit for survivors and a clothing designer’s dental dam underwear. Though the tools come from divergent therapeutic and engineering fields, they share a common goal of helping survivors learn to feel more relaxed, present, and in control during intimate relating.

“What Sex After Sex Abuse Is Really Like” article

The piece features expert advice from sex therapist Wendy Maltz LCSW DST, and mentions, The Sexual Healing Journey: A Guide for Survivors of Sexual Abuse as a resource. Clark-Flory also discusses the wisdom of Wendy’s “relearning touch” exercises and the importance of moving slowly back into being sexual when recovering from this type of trauma.
